Drawing a Typeface

I’ve decided to draw a typeface, a little bit at a time. Not for any particular reason, just because I think typefaces are beautiful, and because it’ll also help me learn about them.

So anyways, here’s my inspiration:

Inspiration

I like typefaces with certain geometry about them, since I love the precision of curves and.. well, stuff like that. Oceana above is currently one of my favorite fonts, and I really like how the e works. I also like how Garamond is smooth and slick, and I like the serif on the n. I like the crispness of Century Gothic and the blocky nature of the serifs of Sylfaen, Minion Pro, Calisto MT and Constantia. I like the mixture of line weights in Baskerville.

So.. lets see how this goes!
